Who is your favorite Muppet? Why?
QotD submitted by knitwitology.vox.com.
I totally loved Kermit when I was a child, especially when he was reporting on Sesame Street. I used to get so angry with the way Miss Piggy treated him.
I still like that silly green frog, but I've also come to appreciate Beaker, Gonzo and those two old men in the balcony.
What was your most memorable or favorite school field trip?
Y'know, I don't have any favorite school field trips because I wasn't allowed to go on them unless my mother was a chaperone. And since she had to work all the time, there weren't many field trips to take.
I do recall two memorable trips, however, when I lived in Germany. The first one actually happened when I was in junior high, and it was an overnight to Austria. I was taking German back then and the teacher, who used to puff her hair and spray it excessively with hairspray for the first 20 minute of class each morning, wanted to take her classes for a weekend. We'd learn about the city and practice the language while she got drunk with the bus driver. I recall seeing Krull with a bunch of the other kids, and being surprised to find a recent English-languge release so far from America. On the way back, the teacher didn't allow any time for stopping for meals so the parent chaperones, my mother included, bought rolls and sandwich meats so we could have lunch.
I took French in high school, and Ramstein was fairly close to the border -- close enough to justify a
day field trip. So the teacher, a lovely woman who still teaches at RHS, gathered her students from various levels and took us to France for the day. We were given maps and a French scavenger hunt list, and then we met back at the bus in early afternoon. Unfortunately, I recall nothing else of the actual day, except converting French money to dollars.
Now for an unrelated moment to complain about Vox -- why can't I edit the time/date stamp?!? Unless it's because I'm on a Mac....
